New
World Waterpark slide will delight thrill seekers
WEST EDMONTON MALL – Thrill seekers beware! West Edmonton Mall’s World Waterpark has a new slide that will twist and turn you like no other. Tropical Typhoon opens Friday, February 14 in the world’s largest indoor wave pool, bringing even more excitement to the five-acre park. Tropical Typhoon is designed like a huge funnel and challenges sliders to find the greatest aerodynamic position so that they can twist and turn as many times as possible before the laws of gravity suck them to the centre of the slide and drop them in the splash pool. The slide starts at a height of 10.12 metres and is approximately 20 metres long. Other statistics are attached. Tropical Typhoon replaces Cannonball Run and is the first slide of its kind in Western Canada. It is rated at an “Advanced” or “Daredevil” level. The installation of Tropical Typhoon isn’t the only change coming to World Waterpark. The Raging Rapids tube ride slide will be receiving some additions to increase its thrill. Two fully-enclosed slide shoots, complete with fibre optic lighting and sound effects, are being added to the slide. These changes, along with renovations to other slides, will be finished by summer. The work is part of a plan that will see $1.2 million invested into West Edmonton Mall’s World Waterpark. “An
important goal for us is to continue offering unique and exciting attractions
and to ensure World Waterpark has something for everyone to enjoy from
families to thrill seekers alike,” said West Edmonton Mall General Manager
and Chief Operating Officer Gary Hanson. “We don’t want people’s
visits here to be ordinary. We want to provide them with memorable,
over the top experiences and that means ensuring our attractions are constantly
upgraded and kept leading-edge.” |
