As fog billowed and swirled throughout Ghost Town and the wind once again howled in the eaves, the unmistakable sound of horror chilled the air...

"I'M CANDY CORN MAN!  CANDY CORN!  NOBODY LIKES CANDY CORN!"

Jesus.  Okay, Dusty and his own personal brand of terror aside, the night was filled with screams, shouts, the sound of kneepads scraping the ground, clickers clacking on Haunt gloves... pure Heaven, folks.

Theme Park Adventure was on hand to capture First Night and began shooting at 3:00 P.M. at Warehouse P, which is where Haunt sleeps year-round, waiting for late September to return once more.  Inside the massive warehouse are the Wardrobe areas, two separate Make-Up station setups and a handful of changing rooms, resting areas for monsters as they get ready.  Nothing is more popular than the tables outside of Warehouse P though - that is where the majority of Haunt monsters tend to gather before and after the event, because even with bug fans roaring and blowing air throughout the Warehouse, it is hot and... smells... uh... Haunt-like... inside.

Once we captured the crew of Haunt 2008 prepping, we entered Ghost Town as groups walked off toward their mazes throughout the Scary Farm.  We took our positions as usual near the front of Ghost Town, where the two rope drops happen - the first for those hard core fans attending the delicious Pre-Scare Dinner and then those folks who came through Main Gate, ready for the time of their lives (or deaths, however you want to look at it).

The ropes (they're actually plastic yellow chains, but who's anal... wait.. uh, forget it..) are dropped and the masses spill forward, directly into the clusters of eager Haunt monsters pacing back and forth, taunting and sizing up the crowd.  First Night's rope drops are special because as one Haunt monster screamed as he blasted an entire group just before the chains dropped - "That was 11 months of pent-up aggression and restlessness right there!"  It's an amazing moment.

Even as the fog machines came on, the guests started to cheer and the monsters were visibly excited, as they suddenly started walking back and forth through the bursts of fog, inhaling it, letting it cling to their costumes - letting the veil of Halloween Haunt finally lift all the way.

And then it was on.

Lots of great scares, lots of new mazes to explore (which we will in great detail as only TPA does) and a wealth of amazing talent all over the Farm.  Here now, enjoy some of the glimpses we caught forever of First Night for you, the fans and monsters to enjoy and remember.  Haunt 2008 is off and running now - here's your first... taste...
